So excited to have you back and to read about your expedition adventures! 😍🤩 Very interesting to peek behind the scenes, with you guiding us expertly. I would never imagine the airport control would be so anxiety-inducing, or the throwing stuff in the ocean part (but it does make so much sense!) 😄

That huskies cafe looks awesome, what a place to bring us the postcard from 🥰 take care, and best of luck on the future expeditions too!

This is truly the content I never knew I needed. What happens if you loose the equipment in the ocean? And how long does it stay there? Thank you for sharing these precious glimpses of your life. Good luck and be safe!

So happy to have you following along (and also for being so curious and being one of the people who nudged me to finally get my fingers typing again 🥰).

These stations are intended to stay out for 2 months, so we will recover them in the second half of August.

Well, if we "loose them in the ocean" it depends on how/what happened. So if the release mechanism is not working, that is a big issue since in these depths up here, we cannot send a diver or something. If the recorders would get flushed away by strong currents or e.g. bottom trawling (not likely in the two spots we selected though), then there is the chance of them getting washed up somewhere and then relying on good people to read the labels and contact us. But in general, one thing about ocean-related science is: "If you throw things in the great wide ocean, you can call yourself lucky to get them back." 🙈

E.g. we still have really old devices at the university for equipment we do not use anymore - just in case somewhere, somehow one of the lost pieces re-emerges.

So happy it worked, and you’re back here again ❤️ It’s so interesting that after all that work, so much of it is relying on luck, but it kinda adds some magic to it😍
